Driver’s Daily Log builder — fill out a paper log (RODS) with real HOS violation checking

A new free tool to build a driver’s Record of Duty Status the way the paper log looks, then download a clean PDF to keep or send to the driver. Draw each duty status (Off, Sleeper, Driving, On-duty) straight onto the 24-hour grid by dragging between exact times, and it fills the header, totals and recap for you. Paste a USDOT and it auto-fills the carrier name and address. It checks Hours of Service as you go — flagging the 11-hour driving limit, the 14-hour window, the 30-minute break, and the 60/70-hour cycle — and it understands the 34-hour restart and the split-sleeper-berth provision (7/3 and 8/2 pairs, either order), so legal splits don’t throw false alarms. Add a previous or next day and it counts the whole run together, carrying the cycle across midnight. Set any date (redo an old log from weeks ago if you need to), and download a multi-page PDF — one landscape page per day, laid out to the federal §395.8 standard. Free, no login, everything stays in your browser.

Why I built VioCodes

We all know the pain of digging through SMS Appendix A every time you need a code, its severity weight, or BASIC. And officers sometimes write codes that aren't even in there.

You're not always at a desk — you're at the yard, in the cab, on the road, or talking to a driver right after an inspection. Pull out your phone, type the code, get the answer.

Hit a code that's missing? Submit it for review and it gets added to the live list — so the rest of us can find it next time.

What started as my own shortcut is now used by thousands of safety managers, dispatchers, and drivers — across the country and a few countries beyond. It's stayed free the whole way, and it's even turned into real friendships along the road. That's what keeps me building.
